About the Client

A healthcare organization wanted to understand how telemedicine was being adopted in rural primary care clinics. Their goal azwas to identify what barriers stood in their way that stopped adoption. They wanted to develop targeted solutions that improve access to care in underserved communities.

The Challenge

Technological Limitations:

Rural clinics often lack the infrastructure needed for telemedicine adoption. At first glance, telemedicine might seem like a great solution in rural areas. Considering that even traditional healthcare facilities are hard to find, it becomes a challenge. There could be many reasons for this. Limited internet connectivity and outdated digital systems, to name a few. Without reliable technology, telemedicine remains more of an idea than a functional solution.

Scheduling Difficulties:

Healthcare providers in rural areas already operate under high patient loads. There is little to no flexibility in their schedules. Busy OPDs, overworked staff, and patients crammed from shoulder to shoulder. Securing time for in-depth interviews required careful coordination. This meant ensuring participation without adding strain to their workload.

Our Approach

Targeted Clinic Selection:

We focused on primary care clinics that had already implemented telemedicine. Engaging with clinics that had direct experience ensured that the insights gathered were practical rather than theoretical. Such an approach removes guesswork, and any conclusion drawn is directly useful.

Discreet & Flexible Outreach:

To encourage candid feedback, we maintained confidentiality throughout the research. We adapted to the schedules of busy healthcare providers. We conducted interviews at times that minimized disruption to their clinical responsibilities. This approach helped secure high-quality insights without compromising participation rates.

Results & Impact

The research provided a holistic picture of the technological and operational challenges affecting adoption. The client left with an actionable roadmap that highlights key pain points and opportunities for improvement. Helping them improve adoption and find innovative ways for solutions to the highlighted problems by the respondents.
