Nexus Expert Research Compliance
Compliance
Compliance is a core value that drives the daily operations of Nexus Expert Research. We believe in the free flow and sharing of knowledge, but such access can only be achieved by adhering strictly to compliance policies
Overview
The compliance framework at Nexus Expert Research is recognized as one of the most conservative and thorough in the industry. Compliance is central to all Nexus Expert Research products and services.
Operating in a field as sensitive and distinctive as expert knowledge-sharing, compliance is crucial. Knowledge is an incredibly valuable asset to our clients—it can bring immense benefits but can also cause significant harm if misused. Through our extensive experience in the field and close collaboration with clients, we have built a compliance framework that is not only robust and conservative but is also reinforced by a specialized search algorithm. This algorithm helps prevent the matching of experts and clients where compliance concerns may arise.
Nexus Expert Research Compliance Framework
Our framework is designed to ensure compliance from both expert and client perspectives, guided by three key principles:
Conservative Approach
We always adopt the most cautious approach, avoiding any actions that might fall into legal or compliance grey areas. When there is uncertainty, we prefer to prevent experts from sharing information, avoiding risks for both the experts and clients.
Proactive Stance
Our compliance isn’t limited to experts and clients simply signing agreements. Drawing on years of industry experience, we emphasize constant vigilance and proactive efforts to avoid potential issues in even the most robust compliance frameworks. This includes interactive compliance tutorials for our experts and maintaining a detailed employer preferences database.
Transparency
We take pride in offering a product that facilitates efficient and transparent knowledge-sharing. This commitment to transparency extends to our compliance processes. Should you have any inquiries or need documentation, feel free to contact us at info@nexus-er.com
Expert Compliance
Our experts receive training in compliance and are bound by the Nexus Expert Research terms and conditions.
Screening and Selection
We carefully vet all our experts through a detailed selection process that:
- Confirms their identity via both public sources and personal identification.
- Thoroughly assesses their expertise to ensure accurate matches with client requests.
- Maps out their past employers to avoid potential conflicts of interest.
Expert Terms and Conditions
Each expert must sign the Nexus Expert Research terms and conditions annually to participate on our platform. These terms ensure experts certify that:
- They have reviewed any relevant agreements, policies, or laws they are subject to.
- They have confirmed they are allowed to join Nexus Expert Research.
- They have verified that sharing their expertise will not breach any contracts or legal obligations.
- They will avoid any discussions that enter prohibited subjects.
- They will not disclose confidential or non-public information.
- They will maintain the confidentiality of all client information.
Expert Compliance Training
We provide an in-depth tutorial to ensure our experts understand the legal and ethical guidelines around knowledge sharing. The tutorial includes exercises, questions, and feedback, helping experts adopt best practices for professional knowledge sharing. It defines what constitutes “confidential information,” reminds experts of their obligations towards both current and past employers, and stresses that clients do not want and could be harmed by receiving confidential information.
Given the dynamic nature of our industry, the tutorial is regularly updated. Experts are required to complete it at least once a year, or more frequently upon request.
Employer Confidentiality
Experts are prohibited from consulting on matters related to their current employer, whether the employer is publicly traded or privately held. This restriction extends to the employer’s parent and subsidiary companies.
Additionally, strict guidelines apply to discussions involving past employers. While experts may share knowledge related to their former roles, they are prohibited from sharing any confidential information acquired during that employment.
Client Compliance
Nexus Expert Research offers clients a registry of employer preferences, high levels of visibility into activities, and the option to implement customized compliance processes.
Visibility
We provide clients with visibility at multiple levels:
- Users can track their activity, including which experts they have contacted and potential future matches.
- Client oversight personnel can view aggregate data at the company level, tracking which employees have engaged with which experts.
- Oversight teams can set up specific triggers or metrics to monitor activity effectively.
Custom Compliance
compliance processes, including:
- Notifications to oversight personnel regarding specific groups of experts.
- Pre-set screening questions or attestations before engaging with certain experts.
- Custom rules for interactions with former employees.
Employer Database Registry
To prevent conflicts of interest, we maintain a registry where organizations can list their restrictions or policies regarding external consulting activities for their employees. This forms the Nexus Expert Research employer preference registry, which we use to enforce those policies. Employers wishing to provide us with consulting policies may contact us at info@nexu-er.com.
